14th DECEMBER 2008, THE BELLAVISTA, LIVIGNO, ITALY.
The build up to festivities starts in earnest during this pre Christmas week in Livigno. Yet still there are uncrowded pistes and having to spend any time in a lift queue is also very unusual. The town however starts to develop a real buzz during this time, and not only can some lively après ski can be sampled at the bottom of the slopes after a hard days skiing and the nights are also lively and exciting..
When you add to that the generous hospitality to be found at the Bellavista, then this really is a fabulous value holiday, where the accommodation at the Chalet and Residence Bellavista, and surrounding properties, is on a room only and self catering basis.
The Bellavista is the best place to stay in Livigno. The rooms and apartments are clean and are of a good standard and the food in the restaurant and bar is second to none. Combine that with the great hospitality of the Lazzeri family and the wonderful Bacchus pub with its great friendly atmosphere, and then all the ingredients are here for a really good holiday.
Livigno itself is a great place to sample some lively après ski at the bottom of the slopes at the infamous Carosello bar, also because of its tax free status an excellent place to pick up some pre Christmas bargains in its many designer shops in its car free centre. Night skiing, ice skating and bowling are also available as extra evening entertainments.
The discounted price is £389 for Adults and £289 for Children. This price includes flights, transfers and accommodation in resort, and flights are available from many regional airports including Liverpool, Newcastle, East Midlands and Stansted. The ski pass prices for the 2008/9 season have not been released yet, and will appear here when available. Ski/Boot hire will be £49, and a Lessons package will be £70. The return is on 20th December.
MAX SKI SNOW-WATCH
Livigno December snow record is second to none and the last four years have found magnificent conditions on the slopes with fresh snow falling throughout the week. Snow depths for this week in 2007 were 125 cms on the upper slopes and 42 cms on the lower slopes, although last seasons depths were far deeper than this.
